Today, we're excited to spotlight Gigi Cox, WAV's Director of Marketing and Development.
Meet the Person Behind the Position
If you're on WAV's email list or have attended one of our community events or creative workshops, chances are you've already crossed paths with Gigi. Gigi works with WAV's Director of Storytelling, Tiera, on marketing efforts, keeps our grant applications and reporting organized, and works with community partners and artists to plan events like the Hilltop Spring Jamboree and collage workshops at WAV.
What's her Superpower?
Bringing everything together.
Whether she's bringing different people and arts organizations together for a community event or weaving together testimonials, data, and stories from across our programs to tell the story of WAV, Gigi finds the common thread and brings cohesion to our work.
What could she give a 30-minute presentation on?
Cake decorating.
Gigi loves making and decorating cakes for all kinds of celebrations. It's one of her favorite forms of creative expression, and you can check out some of her creations on Instagram at @sprinklepartners.

To me, she's the glue of our organization because she creates connections, builds community, and helps everyone feel seen and valued. Gigi is also someone you can always count on, and her kindness and dependability make a lasting impact on everyone she works with. Our team is better because of her.”

She works tirelessly to help propel our mission and our team forward, and always still manages to bring her bubbly energy to everything. She has been such an amazing mentor in demonstrating everything it takes to make our work possible, and such an inspiration for strong and kind leadership. I will always look to her as an example!

Why This Work Matters
For Gigi, the heart of WAV has always been the people:
"WAV is about the people who show up. It's a community of people who believe that art, healing, and connection matters."
About Gigi

Gigi Cox serves as WAV's Director of Marketing and Development, where she leads the organization's marketing and communications and supports grant management, fundraising, and community engagement initiatives. She first connected with WAV through a summer fellowship with The Columbus Foundation before joining the team full time as Marketing and Events Coordinator. Over the past three years, she has grown alongside the organization.
Gigi earned her degree from The Ohio State University's John Glenn College of Public Affairs, where she specialized in nonprofit management. While she doesn't come from a formal arts background, she has loved art and creativity in many forms since childhood, making WAV's mission of using the arts to foster healing, connection, and belonging a natural fit.
Outside of work, Gigi is an avid fiction reader who rarely goes a day without a book. She also enjoys traveling, decorating cakes, and spending time with the people she loves.
This is just one story in our Staff Spotlight series as we continue celebrating the people behind WAV’s work.
