Motherful, based right here in Columbus, Ohio, is a grassroots collective that provides vital resources, builds community, and offers education, arts, and wellness programs. Rooted in Purpose: How Heidi Stays Grounded
Heidi was born in Columbus, Ohio but spent many years in the northwoods of Wisconsin before coming back to Ohio. As a mother of three, she is a singer-songwriter, poet, healing artist, and interfaith minister.
When asked how she stays grounded in the heart-centered work she does, Heidi shared:"I stay grounded by being with other mothers, and by continuing to give, share, and build relationships in the community. I also love to be with the trees. I like to walk in nature and listen for the messages that come."
Her thoughtful approach to staying grounded—through nature, relationships, and creative expression—beautifully echoes the spirit of WAV’s mission to nurture healing, connection, and community through the arts.

How You Can Support the Mission of Motherful
For those wondering how to get involved, Heidi shares that Motherful needs support "in all the ways" from volunteering to donating items like baby wipes or food pantry staples.
"But primarily what we are trying to do right now is shore up our operational funding because we have faced federal funding cuts," she explains.
"So what we really need is folks to open up their wallets and give. Give more to single mothers and their children so they can make it through these times as well."
Right now, 400 moms are waiting for support, and without immediate funding, Motherful cannot sustain its essential services. The organization is working to raise $500,000 to continue offering:
Mental health and wellness support
Creative expression for mothers and children
A strong, supportive community of moms
Essential resources like food, housing, childcare, and economic security
Workforce development and leadership opportunities
