You may tune in to your favorite radio station every morning, or maybe only when your car's aux cord isn't working, but this blog post is a reminder that local radio is something to celebrate. In honor of World Radio Day, we are excited to share one of the voices behind a Columbus broadcast staple- Greg Moebius of WCBE 90.5 FM!
WCBE 90.5 FM: A Catalyst for Community
WCBE is a broadcast service of Columbus City Schools (CCS), and has been serving the city and surrounding areas since 1956. In the beginning, CCS used the station to broadcast students' lessons on snow days, and it has provided incredible original, independent, & network programming ever since.
WCBE is a huge supporter of local musicians, and is inspiring radio the next generation of broadcasters and podcasters through student programs in partnership with Columbus City Schools.
Amplifying Student Voices with WAV
We Amplify Voices has a longstanding partnership with WCBE, with both of our missions aligning to amplify student voices. Every Tuesday at 4 and 8 PM, the station plays the WAV Song of the Week, a song written in collaboration with local artists and a group from WAV's youth programs.
While touring the studio, the WAV team was very excited to see a printed photo of a group of our students on a field trip to see WAV alumni Payton Ramirez performing live from Studio A.

How You Can Support WCBE
WCBE is a local, listener supported station that relies on community support. You can make a donation on their website to keep the station on the air, and stay connected through their newsletter or social media.
You can also make sure to tune in!

A Reminder to Practice Staying Grounded
In every Community Voices interview, we ask "How do you stay grounded?" At WAV, we encourage taking the time to ground yourself, whether that is through creative expression or another healthy practice.
Greg shares his passion for cycling, and his excitement to ride the Ohio to Erie trail this year.
"I stay active every day to keep me physically and mentally in shape to lead this team here at WCBE"
We hope Greg's words inspire you to take time today for your grounding practice of choice, maybe even while tuning in to 90.5 WCBE.
